RAGDA PATTICE RECIPE

Hello! Hope you all are well. So today I am going to discuss about such a dish which is everyone’s favourite. You must have heard of Ragda Pattice, this dish is very famous in Mumbai. Every working person in India likes this dish. So today I am going to tell you the ingredients and process to make a delicious and sparkling Ragda Pattice dish in a very simple way.

Ingredients You’ll Need

For the Ragda:

  • 1 cup dried white peas (soaked overnight)
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

For the Pattice:

  • 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Accompaniments:

  • Chopped Onions
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Tamarind chutney
  • Mint chutney
  • Sev (crispy chickpea flour noodles)

How to make Ragda patties:-

Preparation of Ragda:- Boil the soaked white peas in a pressure cooker in hot water till three-four whistles.

Make the masala:- Heat oil in a pan on low flame on griddle, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and light them splutter, add chopped onions and saute until golden brown.

Let’s add tomatoes and spices:– ginger garlic paste green chili spices i.e. turmeric red chili powder garam masala saute briefly, then add the tomato puree.  Cook until the oil separates from the masala.

Combine with peas:- Add the cooked peas and tamarind past , stir well and simmer for 10-15 minutes, adjusting salt and consistently as needed garnish wiyh chopped coriander.

Step to prepare the patties:

Mix the ingredients:- Mix the boiled potato, gram flour, cumin and spices in a bowl until they are smooth and easy to handle.

Shape the patties:- Prepare the patties by giving the prepared mixture in the bowl into a suitable round shape.

Fry Patties:- Heat oil on low flame in a pan on a griddle and fry the patties till golden brown and crispy.
